Understanding when to use Workspaces vs Teams depends on your brokerage's operating model. This guide covers setup recommendations for centralized, cradle-to-grave, and agent-based brokerages.
Core Concepts
Teams = Groups of People
Teams organize users. Think of a team as a roster of people who work together.
- Use for coverage areas within an office (Mexico team, Canada team)
- Use for different roles (account managers, ops teams, carrier reps)
- Teams get assigned to workspaces
- Teams can be assigned as the "coverage team" on individual postings
- Notifications can be tailored to everyone on the team, or just the individual user & their manager.
Workspaces = Groups of Freight
Workspaces organize freight. Think of workspaces like folders for your freight.
- Use for different offices or branches
- Use for agent groups or major business units
- Each piece of freight belongs to exactly one workspace
- Workspaces can be private (only members see that freight)
- Users must be assigned to a workspace (directly or via team) to see its freight
"If freight are like files on your computer, Workspaces are the folders that contain those files."
