What is LTL/Partial?

LTL (Less Than Truckload) and Partial postings are for freight that doesn't fill an entire trailer. These posting types let carriers see exactly how much space a shipment takes.

How LTL/Partial Works

When posting LTL/Partial freight, you specify:

LTL vs. Partial: What's the Difference?

In the freight industry, the terms are sometimes used differently. In Cargado, we combine them:

Term General Definition
LTL Typically 0–6 pallets. May move through multiple terminals and trailers via hub-and-spoke networks.
Partial Typically 6+ pallets. Usually stays on one trailer with fewer transfers. You're buying "your space" on that trailer.

Because the line between LTL and Partial varies by market and carrier, Cargado treats them as one flexible posting type.

Why LTL/Partial Matters for Brokers

LTL/Partial postings help brokers move smaller shipments efficiently and match freight with the right capacity.
